Spectral Industries, a Delft-based deep-tech company developing advanced optical sensor systems using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for real-time chemical analysis, has raised 2.5 million euros in funding. The round was co-led by Value Creation Capital (VCC) and The Nest Group, supporting Spectral’s transition from a project-based company to a scalable product company. The investment will accelerate the ESA BIC alumnus’ mission of bringing advanced optical sensor into industries where they can make a real impact, from mining to recycling to production.

Product-driven focus for advanced optical sensor systems
Spectral Industries specialises in LIBS technology enabling real-time, contactless chemical analysis of raw materials. Inspired by developments at TNO Space & Optics for space missions, the technology is now being deployed in industries such as mining, recycling and production, where demand for efficiency and sustainability is rapidly growing.
The company’s product line includes; the BeltPulse, which performs continuous elemental analysis directly on conveyor belts; the LabPulse for fast laboratory-based testing; and the soon-to-launch CorePulse, designed for drill core scanning in mining. By offering standardised, easy-to-deploy products, Spectral provides substantial benefits – higher yields, lower operational costs, reduced emissions and optimised use of energy and resources.
“Spectral aims to be a lead player in the field of industrial smart sensors and this funding allows us to take a major step in that direction”
AD maas, spectral industries CEO
“We are thrilled with the confidence VCC and The Nest Group have in our vision and growth ambitions. This funding supports our shift to a product-driven business and responds to customer demands. Spectral aims to become a leading player in the field of industrial smart sensors and this funding allows us to take a major step in that direction,” said Ad Maas, Spectral Industries CEO.

Funding to accelerate sensing solutions
“Due to the changed geopolitical landscape, mining has become critical and is expected to grow significantly. Smart mining with the technology of Spectral Industries will ensure both efficiency of operations and contribute to sustainability. With the investment, Spectral Industries will be able to scale with the current product portfolio and strengthen their position on four continents.” said Ronald Wissink, VCC managing partner.
The investment will be used to expand the team, pre-finance production, strengthen international partnerships, and further develop the company’s IP (intellectual property) portfolio. The funding also enables Spectral Industries to obtain industry certifications and accelerate commercial rollout to global customers, including leading players in mining, recycling and steel production.
Spectral’s technology is already attracting interest from major industry names, such as Anglo American, Sandvik, Tata Steel and Covalent Lithium, all seeking solutions that increase competitiveness, improve sustainability and ensure compliance with stricter environmental regulations.
