Excitement was building during the community lunch this month at SBIC Noordwijk when the “OneSpaceHub Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) signing ceremony took place. A consortium of stakeholders within the Dutch space ecosystem initiated OneSpaceHub in 2023, working together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO) to boost the potential of the space sector. Now, the project team – led by NL Space Campus – is celebrating renewed partner commitment to continue as a network and help further shape the next generation of space ventures.

MOU signing ceremony at SBIC Noordwijk
The ceremony on 13 May 2025 saw two of the partners (SBIC Noordwijk and PLNT Leiden) signing the MOU with NL Space Campus and other partners to support the continued development of OneSpaceHub – a national initiative to boost space entrepreneurship from idea to scale-up. The project focuses on programmes that span crucial stages in the space-related entrepreneurial process: education, ideation, pre-incubation and incubation. The representatives who signed the MOU during this ceremony included: Marc Sandelowsky (NL Space Campus director), Matthijs den Os (SBIC CEO and CFO) and Bastiaan de Roo (PLNT director). Other partners sign the MOU on separate occasions.

The consortium initially came together to lay the foundation for a permanent national partnership where talents from provincial programmes and different educational levels flow towards a strong space-tech and data-driven ecosystem. The MOU signing now paves the way for future collaboration.
Key partners will continue to work together to offer expertise ensuring that entrepreneurs have access to the right resources when they need them most. OneSpaceHub aims to create a unified, accessible path for space entrepreneurs – from the very first spark of inspiration to the later stages of scaling their ventures. The network aims to ensure that the resources available to entrepreneurs become even more diverse and comprehensive, enabling more businesses to succeed and scale within the space industry.

Only ESA-and-NSO-backed space business programmes in NL
The Space Business Innovation Centre (SBIC) Noordwijk plays a unique role within the OneSpaceHub ecosystem by offering a pre-incubation training course – the Ignition Programme – that is specially designed to prepare participants to apply to ESA’s Dutch incubator (ESA BIC Noordwijk).
The Ignition Programme – held every summer at SBIC – is the place for startups to develop an insight-based and validated business plan, and get a good understanding of the needs of potential customers. Existing startups, student teams, solo founders – all are welcome. This is not the only programmes that SBIC is involved with managing; see more here.
